Federal Minister Reiche Visits the Wilhelmshaven LNG Terminal 01

“LNG terminals are now a key component of our energy supply. They reliably ensure the gas supply for households and industry, even in difficult times. At the same time, they make us more independent and increase our resilience in a tense market environment.” This was emphasized by Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, during her visit to DET’s Wilhelmshaven 01 LNG terminal on the morning of April 30.

The minister was accompanied by Dr. Peter Röttgen, Managing Director of DET, as they toured the jetty’s superstructure and the deck of the Höegh Esperanza floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU). Röttgen said: “As we see every day, our LNG infrastructure is making an indispensable contribution to the security of supply for Germany and Europe during these geopolitically challenging times.” From October through the end of March 2026, DET fed approximately 44.8 terawatt-hours into the natural gas grid via its three operational terminals in Brunsbüttel and two in Wilhelmshaven, with reserve capacities also being activated.
