With its logistically advantageous location on the Lower Elbe and the Kiel Canal, the Elbehafen provides direct access to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, close proximity to Hamburg, connections to European inland waterways, and industrial land available in the immediate port area. These locational benefits—combined with a comprehensive range of maritime services—make Brunsbüttel an attractive logistics hub for Schleswig‑Holstein’s largest industrial region. While the facility is already operating at a temporary berth, construction of the new “Jetty West” is currently underway and scheduled for completion this year. Once construction is finalized, the FSRU Höegh Gannet will be relocated to the new site. Unlike the existing berth, Jetty West is not designed with a traditional quay wall but as a pier extending into the River Elbe.
