The FSRU "Höegh Esperanza" became the first German LNG terminal to commence operations in December 2022. It is located in Wilhelmshaven, close to the Jade Weser port, where an existing berth was expanded.
DET has entered into a ten-year charter contract with the shipping company Höegh Evi for the "Höegh Esperanza". The 294-metre-long vessel, constructed in 2018, has a capacity of 170,000 cubic meters and a regasification capacity of up to 750 MMSCFD. Adjacent to a newly built jetty at the Hooksiel outer harbour, the terminal is directly connected to the German transmission grid via pipeline. This allows for an annual grid feed-in capacity of up to 4.7 billion cubic meters. The terminal's performance information are also accessible on the official Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) website: ALSI-Platform.
DET is responsible for the operation of the LNG terminals in Wilhelmshaven. LTeW GmbH, a subsidiary of Uniper, is responsible for the on-site management, operations and maintenance. KN Energies is responsible for commercial management, which includes the coordination of LNG carriers. The shipping company Höegh Evi performs the regasification onboard the "Höegh Esperanza". The operator of the port is Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG.
