Largest shipment to date received at DET terminals

The Venture Pelican was the first LNG tanker in the 200,000-cubic-meter class to unload its cargo at a DET terminal. Built in 2025, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker was moored alongside the FSRU Höegh Esperanza at the Wilhelmshaven 1 terminal in the middle of last week and transferred a total of 193,000 cubic meters of LNG—the largest single cargo ever unloaded at a DET terminal. After regasification (re-evaporation) on board the Esperanza and injection into the German natural gas grid, the original cargo expands to approximately 587 times its original volume. This natural gas delivery has an energy value of 1.31 terawatt-hours. Mathematically, this is enough to supply heating energy year-round to over 93,000 four-person households in apartment buildings. Along with the other regular shipments to our three terminals in Wilhelmshaven and Brunsbüttel, this shipment also makes an important contribution to the security of supply in Germany and Europe.
